About Me: Emily Chiado
Myofascial Release is Profound Therapy Empowering You to Take Back Your Power
I am a licensed therapeutic massage therapist in the state of Illinois and a dedicated Myofascial Release practitioner whose path into this work has been both professional and deeply personal. I began exploring Myofascial Release in 2023 after a brief introduction during massage school. During that first exposure, I witnessed an emotional release in my partner unlike anything I had seen before. Something in me knew immediately that I had to learn more.
Since then, I have pursued Myofascial Release with my whole heart—traveling across the country, studying directly through John F. Barnes seminars, and immersing myself in the full spectrum of this work. I have completed MFR I, MFR II, Fascial Pelvis, Rebounding, Women’s Health, Fascial Cranium, Pediatric, Cervical–Thoracic, Unwinding, Advanced Unwinding, and a Skills Enhancement Seminar. I also hold a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate through Yoga Renew Studio, and I integrate meditation, breathwork, and Reiki (Levels I & II) into my personal and professional practice.
I have been practicing Myofascial Release for two and a half years, but the work feels like something I have been training for my entire life. My own healing journey has been long, layered, and transformative. I have navigated trauma, injury, and a period in 2024 when my mobility came to a halt—leaving me unable to climb stairs, struggling to walk, and fearing my career had ended before it truly began. Through committed weekly MFR treatment, my body slowly reclaimed its strength. After six sessions, I could move up and down stairs again. After thirteen, I could run up and down them. That experience restored my hope and reinforced my belief in the body’s innate ability to heal when given space, time, and compassionate attention.
My approach is calm, serene, and reflective. I believe healing does not need to be forced; it can be met with presence, patience, and love. I hold space for clients to feel safe, supported, and deeply accepted—whether they are navigating trauma, chronic pain, emotional release, or long-standing patterns held in the fascial system. I also believe in being a client myself. Staying connected to my own healing keeps me grounded, empathetic, and aligned with the work I offer.
At the heart of my practice is a simple truth: feeling is healing. The body holds our stories, and when we allow sensations, emotions, and memories to surface, we create the possibility for profound change. My work is to walk beside you as you explore what your body has been carrying—and help you reconnect with the ease, mobility, and joy that are still available to you.
